Call of Duty's largest weapon pool yet

There will be a whopping 114 weapons arriving at launch, as Call of Duty executes the new "Carry Forward" program to transfer the weapons and cosmetics of Modern Warfare 2 into the new game. This includes 37 new weapons specifically for Modern Warfare 3 and the 77 weapons brought over from last year.

To reduce any confusion with the mashup of weapons this year, all weapons are marked with the logo of the game it originates from to make them easily distinguishable in the menus. Additionally, if you played and unlocked the Modern Warfare 2 guns, you will have access to them at the weapon level you reached, along with any unlocked attachments and camos.

If you're a new player or someone who didn't finish unlocking Modern Warfare 2's full arsenal, you can still unlock these weapons by completing an unlock challenge in either game's multiplayer, or by extracting the weapon if you find it during a MW3 Zombies match.

You can find more details on aftermarket parts here.

The blog details more aftermarket parts will become available post-launch via Modern Warfare 3's Weekly Challenge system. However, to apply certain aftermarket parts to a weapon, you'll need to reach the weapon's maximum level.

If you're looking to jump into Modern Warfare 3's campaign, here's how long you can expect the story to take, including a complete mission list and early rewards. Unfortunately, MW3 is missing a Platinum trophy on PlayStation 5.
